Immerse yourself first in the beautiful scenery of the Stone Forest that was listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2007. The vast southern Chinese karst landscape is jointly composed by the sword- and pagoda-shaped karsts pillars of Yunnan's Stone Forest as well as the cone-shaped and stereoscopic pillars with its nature made bridges and crevices of the Karst Forest in Libo, Guizhou. This typical Karst physiognomy assumed shape of stone pillars and boulders which have been formed 500,000 to 300 million years ago and in total covers an area of 1,460 square kilometers. The scenic attractions in these regions enjoy great reputation, both within China and abroad. The Yunnan Stone Forest Park, 90km east of Kunming is a very popular tourist hot spot. Due to the gigantic size of the park it is nevertheless still possible to find less visited and remote areas, especially in the winter months. Find your own way through the maze of enormous stone pillars! Afterwards, we will drive you to visit the famous Flower and Bird Market. Drop off at your hotel. End of service.

Itinerary:

Kunming - Stone Forest - Kunming

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning at 09:00am. First, we will drive you to Stone Forest (86km, 1.5 hours), and enjoy a local Yunnan lunch before we visit Stone Forest. According to an old saying it is a pity not visiting the Stone Forest while you are in Kunming. After lunch, we will have a full afternoon to visit this wonderful landscape. Enjoy the beautiful views of the sight and spend about 2-3 hours in the park.

Full of amazing impressions you will be brought back to Kunming in the early afternoon to visit Flower and Bird Market. The famous Flower and Bird Market in Jingxing Street is the city's biggest, most attractive shopping market where spring reigns all year. Since 1983 the Flower and Bird Market has gradually been built into a comprehensive public spot for leisure, shopping, and trading. Strolling on the market street, you can see shops and stalls of all sorts, especially those featuring flowers, birds, and fish. Drop off at your hotel afterwards.

Dynamic Yunnan, a grand and primitive drama, is a master piece of artistic work that marks the characters of Yunnan. It is regarded as one of the milestone creations in Chinese stage show and dance history. It is vibrant as the dancers energetically perform in their traditional costumes. It shows the great nature, the origin and praise of life, the gracefulness of the peacocks, how important the laborious Dai women are to their families, the belief that the souls of the faithful and virtuous would ascend to heaven, etc. Chinese folk dance which reflecting people's daily life, festival activities and customs first appeared over 5000 years ago. It is a by-product of long historical development and profound artistic culture. Dynamic Yunnan is an attempt to create a living museum where such traditions can live on for future generations. Ms. Yang Liping，who choreographed the dance, spent several years searching for and training a troupe of over sixty performers from Yunnan’s ethnic minority regions to bring this unique composition to life on the stage. It is both, a tribute to the spirit of Yunnan and a work of selfless devotion to its prosperity.
