Tour Summary

The Guandu District of Kunming hosts the area’s most famous ‘old town’. Use this one-day-trip to stroll around and also visit Kunming’s newly arranged Provincial Museum (opened in May 2015). Get a deeper understanding of not only local archaeology and architecture but also learn about dinosaurs and Chinese ethnography. If time’s still available and you wish to go, we attend the so-called Lantern Drama, a local Yunnan opera and/or visit the close Baofeng Wetlands Park.

Tour Details

Kunming – Yunnan Provincial Museum – Guandu Ancient Town – Kunming

Your local guide and driver pick you up from your Kunming hotel in the morning at 9am (or also later if you wish). First we visit the Yunnan Provincial Museum, which is about half an hour drive from the city center. After spending some time in the museum, enjoy a rich lunch and a short break.

We stroll around the Guandu Ancient Town afterwards: an historical site with architecture of a bygone era, perfect to promenade over markets, pass interesting food stands or stop by a tea house for some local Yunnan Tea.

Option in the afternoon:

Visit the Lantern Drama of Yunnan Province (Wednesdays to Fridays from 14:00 to 16:00h)
If there’s still enough time and if you like, a short visit at close Baofeng Wetlands Park would be recommended.
