After Yunnan has been connected to China's highspeed train network beginning of this year, not only the country's east coast gets more accessible for us. Also our neighboring province Guizhou is now quickly reachable and is definately worth a visit. Check out our new tours to Guizhou!

Guizhou is bordering Yunnan to the northeast and is – as Yunnan – also famous for its variety of ethnic minorities. This province is a hotspot for biodiversity in its southern and eastern prefectures and the rugged landscapes characterizes the west of the province. Guizhou’s capital is Guiyang which is the geographical and economical centre of this province. Guiyang is connected by a direct train to Kunming.

More than 15 minority groups settled in Guizhou and most of the amazing scenic areas are located in these areas. In addition to enjoying the scenery, visitors can discover the rich and varied folk cultures of the different minorities. The strong but simple and unsophisticated customs, architectures with unique style, exotic and colorful costumes and numerous festivals throughout the year make Guizhou a highlight for China visitors.

The province is predominantly covered by the southern Chinese karst and limestone landscapes of which also the famous Stone Forest close to Kunming in Yunnan is still a part of. The area offers perfect opportunities for outdoor activities such as biking, climbing and hiking. The province is also home to China's largest waterfall: in central Guizhou the Beipanjiang River falls down almost 80 meters the Huangguoshu Waterfall, over a width of over 100 meters.

Guizhou is one of the most important places for tobacco producing within China. Also the famous Chinese liquor Maotai originates from Guizhou. So while the economy concentrates on drinking and smoking, the numerous ethnic minorities have created a colorful cultural heritage as for instance the covered Wind and Rain Bridges and a huge variety of all kinds of festivals all year round.
