We were so impressed with Wonders of Yunnan Travel right from our first point of contact. Joy was outstanding in her prompt and thorough replies to our emails, as we decided to ditch the Australian agency we had been trying to work with to organise our independent tour of Yunnan. Trip Advisor was a great source of reassurance and confidence as we discovered WOY. We already had a plan in mind and hotels booked, but needed guides and drivers for different days of our 10 day tour of Kunming, Dali, Xizhou, Shaxi and Lijiang. We loved being able to ask Joy for further suggestions for our trip ( Shuhe Ancient town for example). We really appreciated the flexibility of the guides - when we wanted more free time, they were very accommodating, when we wanted to browse at market stalls or just wander a bit more through local streets or find a place for a cup of tea and cake, they were happy to oblige. ( Thanks, Charlie! ) We had no sense of the pressure of time. The guides spoke excellent English and we particularly want to commend Vivian in Kunming and Sally in Dali for their consideration, warmth and relaxed manner. We rode in real comfort too which was a lovely surprise and when we needed to find a good place for lunch ( thanks, Sally!) and when we needed to change some plans at the last minute, ticket prices were refunded, which was not expected, but that too was much appreciated as well. We would have no hesitation in recommending Wonders of Yunnan Travel to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful part of China and the costs of the tour were much more reasonable than those available to us in Australia.

We had a week to spend in Yunnan Province, and Joy at Wonders of Yunnan was absolutely fabulous. From her prompt email responses to her help with the organization and all logistics of the trip from drivers, guides and places to stay, we were very satisfied. The true measure of this was when our first day was cancelled due to weather/flight delays, and she worked very hard to reschedule what she could and other details that would have been hard to work through as a foreigner. We had fabulous guides who were friendly and knowledgeable as we visited Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Shuhe and Shangri-La. We highly recommend !

Sehr kurzfristig habe ich hier am Morgen eine Tagestour mit Fahrer und Guide gebucht. Nach absenden meiner Email wurde ich umgehend zurück gerufen und ein Mitarbeiter erklärte mir (in Englisch), welche Tagestour man mir anbieten könnte. Nachdem die Eckpunkte geklärt waren, wurden wir direkt am Hotel abgeholt und mit einem Fahrer und Guide (Rose) sind wir zum "Stone Forests" gefahren. Unterwegs erklärte uns Rose die kulturellen Gegebenheiten und die vielen verschiedenen ethnischen Minderheiten und deren Bräuche, inklusive eines Gesangsvortrag Ihrerseits (wirklich schön). Am Stone Forests angekommen, führte uns Rose durch denselbigen und erklärte uns die verschiedenen Steinformationen und Ihre Bedeutung. Anschließend wurden wir bereits vom Fahrer erwartet und zurück nach Kunming gebracht. Wer diese Stadt besucht und Kultur und Umgebung kennenlernen möchte, dem kann ich diese Reiseagentur nur empfehlen! Hier war jeder einzelne Yuen sehr gut angelegt.

Wonders of Yunnan organised a wonderful tour for us from Weishan, through Dali, Shaxi and Shuhe, to Shangri-la. I found them very helpful and responsive in terms of ideas for locations, routes and hotels, and between us we designed an itinerary that fitted our requirements like a glove, including time at Shaxi's Friday Market - a real highlight. There were four us, plus our driver and guide (we had 3 guides across the various locations) travelling in a "people carrier". In truth, this could have been more comfortable, but it was fine once we were used to it. Our guides were helpful and knowledgeable, and allowed us plenty of time to explore at our own pace. They also found good, authentic local restaurants every lunchtime. We had specified the hotels ourselves and in general were very happy with our choices. Wonders of Yunnan handled all the bookings, and also arranged a separate car/driver to bring my wife and I back from Shangri-La to Xizhou, where our tour finished. A nice touch: still unusual for China, the company does not include "shopping stops" every day as part of the tour - unless you want to stop, of course. All in all, Wonders of Yunnan provided us with a wonderful, memorable holiday, tailored specifically to our needs. I couldn't ask for more, could I?!
