Visitors to Yunnan arriving by plane mostly arrive at Kunming Changshui International Airport. It is the biggest airport hub in Yunnan. Further major airports are located in Dali, Lijiang, Shangri La, Jinghong / Xishuangbanna and other cities. They are all connected with major Chinese cities as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and airports of Kunming, Lijiang and Jinghong also serve international routes within Asia. Kunming Changshui International Airport

Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG) is the primary airport serving Yunnan Province. The airport is located about 25 km northeast of the city center in a mountainous area about 2,100 m above sea level. The airport opened in summer 2012, replacing the old Kunming Wujiaba International Airport. As a gateway to Southeast and South Asia, Kunming Airport is a hub for China Eastern Airlines, Kunming Airlines and Lucky Air. It is connected to Kunming by metro line 6, numerous airport shuttle buses and by a 13 km toll highway, as well as Provincial Road S101. Check the official website for further details (Chinese only).

 

 

Dali

Dali Airport

Dali Airport (DLU) is situated south east of Dali Old Town, on the opposite side of Er Lake. Getting there by car takes about 45 minutes (33 km). Within Yunnan, Dali Airport offers direct flights to Kunming and Jinghong / Xishuangbanna. Further Chinese domestic flights bring guests to Beiing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and others.

   

Lijiang

Lijiang Airport

Lijiang Sanyi Airport (LJG) is situated 25 km south of Lijiang Old Town. From Lijiang flights head to Kunming, Jinghong / Xishuangbanna and Tengchong in Yunnan's west. As one of Yunnan's top travel destination Lijiang airport is connected directly to Beijing and other important Chinese cities. Its official website can be found here (Chinese only). Shangri La / Deqin

Shangri La Airport

From the Airport in Shangri La (Deqin: DIG) passengers can fly to Jinghong / Xishuangbanna in southern Yunnan and to Kunming. Direct flights are also available to the neighboring provinces Sichuan and Tibet (Chengdu & Lhasa) as well as to Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

   

Jinghong / Xishuangbanna

Jinghong Airport

Like Kunming and Lijiang, the Xishuangbanna Gasa Airport (JHG) not only offers domestic but also international flights to Bangkok, Thailand and Luang Prabang in Laos. Within Yunnan, Tengchong, Lijiang, Dali and Kunming are connected directly. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and other important cities within China mainland can be reached from here as well.
