Popular Attractions in Yunnan
Know as "Guilin of Yunnan", Puzhehei is located about 300 km southeast of Kunming in Wenshan Prefecture and is inhabited by Miao, Yao, Yi, Bai and Zhuang people.
Rice terraces can be found all over Asia. In Yunnan the most famous ones are the Yuanyang Rice Terraces of the Hani and Yi people in the autonomous Honghe Prefecture in Yunnan's southeast.
The Yunnan snub-nosed monkey is the most endangered of China's three snub-nosed monkey species. The long, shaggy coat is mainly black on the back, arms and legs and white on the front. White hair is also present on the flanks and this is particularly long on the adult males. The lips are a deep pink, whilst the face is paler and there are yellowish-grey hairs on the shoulders. These monkeys get their common name for their unusual noses; the nasal bones are absent and the nostrils are upturned. Young onesare born white but become grey over several months.
Being the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan, Songzanlin Monastery, also known as Guihua Monastery, is one of the famous monasteries in the Kang region. The monastery is located near Shangri -La County, at the foot of Foping Mountain.

Wenshan Zhuang & Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located in Yunnan's southeast. Visiting Wenshan is rather an insider tip, as it's only seldomly included in Yunnan itineraries.
West of Kunming, just right next to Dian Lake the Western Hills rise above the city. Wonderful scenic spots can be visited there, such as Huating and Taihua Temple, Sanqing Pavilion and Dragon Gate. Huating Temple is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Yunnan Province.
